HOW TO SIGN UP: To sign up for one of these trips, or for additional information, you should contact the event coordinator, Everett Belter (See Home Page for phone number/email address) or sign up at the monthly meeting.

GENERAL INFORMATION  These trips are scheduled monthly depending on the needs and wishes of the members and the availability of the fishing vessel.  Trips are booked on the “Haf N Haf”, a 35’ Henriques Main Coaster Sportfisherman.  This vessel is owned and operated by Captain Doug McCarver , a local area firefighter who spends his spare time fishing the blue waters of the Atlantic in search of Sailfish, Marlin, Wahoo, Dolphin, Tuna, Kingfish, Barracuda, Shark, Grouper, Snapper, and many other sport fish that happen along.

The Haf N Haf is a flybridge style fishing vessel with a fully enclosed salon, with a refrigerator,  and full size head (bathroom), She cruises at 18 knots and is always kept in a clean and neat condition.  All bait, tackle and ice is furnished.  Bring your own lunch and drinks and you may use the refrigerator for storage.  Bring larger coolers to leave in the car to carry the fish home.  No fishing license is required for this trip.

This vessel is commonly referred to as a “6-Pack” which means that it carries a maximum of six passengers plus the crew.  It is moored at the east end of the Port Orange Bridge at the “Village Down Under”, about 10 miles south of Daytona Beach, and sails out of Ponce Inlet.  Car pooling is used and the location and time for leaving the villages is established for each trip. Trips are 10 hours and normally run from 7:00am to 5:00pm.  Cost of the trip varies, but usually will not be scheduled unless the full six passengers have signed up.  Cost is then shared equally by all.  Cost is currently $175.00 per person, and includes tips and fish cleaning, although an additional tip is is certainly recommended when a good day was had by all.  It should be noted that this price is available only on trips scheduled through the Villages Deep Sea Fishing Club.

CURRENT TRIP SCHEDULE:  No trips scheduled for September

GENERAL INFORMATION These trips are scheduled monthly, usually on the 3rd Thursday of each month.  Trips are currently being booked on the  fishing vessel THUNDER.   The Thunder accommodates approximately 30 passengers and is based out of the Sport Fishermen's Landing in Hernando Beach, Florida.  The Club usually “books” the vessel for each trip with the minimum number of passengers required so that we (The Club) “own” the vessel for the day.  The vessel is basically an open boat with bench seats and does have a bathroom.  This vessel is basically a “bottom-fishing” boat, fishing wrecks and reefs for snapper, grouper, triggerfish, grunts, shark, black sea bass, and other bottom feeding fish while sailing out 20-30 miles offshore.

All bait and tackle are furnished.  There are several options available, such as purchasing extra bait, or bringing your “special rod and reel” on board.  No fishing license is required for this trip.  You should bring your own small cooler, lunch or snacks.  Currently, departure time is 0530 am from the Laurel Manor Rec Ctr parking lot.  Trips are 9 hours and normally run from 7:30am to 4:30pm.  The Thunder provides rod, reel, tackle, license, bait and fish cleaning.  Just bring your food, drink and a lucky charm.  A BUS IS NOW AVAILABLE and will be used when possible.  Otherwise car pooling is used as necessary.

GENERAL INFORMATION.  These trips are scheduled monthly depending on the needs and wishes of the members and the availability of the fishing vessel.  The Gulf Grouper is a 30-foot Sea Hawk with an enclosed pilot's cabin.  It is skippered by Capt Rick Rodriguez who has been fishing charters for over 5 years.  There is ample room for six fishermen.  All tackle, bait and fish cleaning are provided.  Personal rods, etc., are not recommended because of space on the vessel and in hauling this equipment to the marina.  There is no fixed head, but provisions can be made for a pee can and/or private porta potty.

LOCATION:  The Gulf Grouper is located at Hernando Beach, next to the Thunder, in Spring Hill, Florida.  It is approximately a 1 1/2 hour trip from Laurel Manor.

TRIPS:  The club will book an 8-hour trip, leaving the dock at 07:30 hours and returning NLT 4:00 PM.  This trip will target gag and red grouper, grunts and red snapper (plus anything else that happens along).  The club price is $125 per person, based on six fishermen.  Payment is made at the boat by cash or personal check only.  The group will meet and carpool from Laurel Manor at 0530 hours.  Several other longer trips are available at increased cost, but originally the club will stay with the 8-hour trip.  Information on these longer trips can be made available at the meeting or by calling (727-992-9494) or visiting Capt Rodriguez's web site at: www.gulfgrouper.com. Seating on the vessel includes one passenger in the cabin and the remaining passengers on the large cushioned  chest in the center of the boat.  You may bring a folding seatback/cushion but no actual folding chairs are allowed because of safety concerns.  Please bring only a small cooler for food/drink plus personal gear.
