The Deep Sea Fishing Club is sponsoring its first ever fishing tournament. This tournament is species specific and will last for three months beginning Oct. 1 and ending Dec. 31. It will involve all trips on the Gulf and on the Atlantic. There will be four species in play - grouper, snapper, snook and redfish. Each species will be subject to prize money given for the longest fish to the nearest 1/4 inch. Eligible fish will have to be "keepers" according to the Florida Recreational Saltwater Fishing Regulations. In season and within slot limits.
Members can enter the tournament on any trip by paying $10.00 at the time they book the trip or anytime prior to leaving the dock for a trip. Members can enter as many trips as they wish. $10.00 each time.
Make checks payable to DSFC, include note on check - "tournament", date and the name of the trip or Captain.

Fishing tournament by species
General Rules:

3. Length of catch shall be the only determinant to the “nearest” ¼ inch
4. There shall be a first and second winner for each species
5. Captain or mate shall measure and certify each entry
6. A picture of entry and measurement shall be provided
7. Current leaders will be posted on website
8. Entry fee is $10 per person per trip paid prior to trip, enter as many times as you wish – once per trip
9. Trips must be with a club sanctioned Captain or boat. No private boats or boats not sanctioned.
10. Winners shall be announced and paid at first monthly meeting after completion of tournament
11. Tournament shall have one club member in charge and all decisions by that member are final
Specifics:
1. Entry fee shall be paid prior to trip or on the trip prior to any fishing (how and where to pay to be determined)
2. Entry fee shall include member’s name, trip and date
3. Any “tie” shall be broken by fish caught on earliest date, any remaining ties shall split the prize money equally
4. Length of catch shall be to the “nearest” ¼ inch.
5. Entrants shall have a measuring tape with them in the event the captain does not have a device to measure to the nearest ¼ inch and only captain or mate shall use the provided tape.
6. Entrant shall be responsible to provide the picture of their fish and a clear measurement for the website.

8. Prize money for each species will be 25% of the total collected
9. Prize payout shall be 70% for first place and 30% for second place for each species
Example Payout:
Total amount collected is $1,000.00. $250.00 will go for each species. 1st prize is 70% of $250.00 or $175.00. 2nd prize will be 30% of $250.00 or $75.00
