2025 Gag grouper season in the Gulf has yet to be announced. The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council (along with NOAA) has announced the following:
Beginning in 2024, the recreational fishing season will begin on September 1 and will close when NOAA Fisheries projects that the recreational ACT has been harvested. This change is projected to increase the length of the fishing season compared to a June 1 opening date, as fishing pressure is expected to be lower with a September 1 start date for the season.
There are a bunch of "gobbilty-gook" explanations of how they arrived at: Changes to Catch Levels, Sector Allocations, Recreational Accountability Measures, Recreational Fishing Season, and the Rebuilding Plan for Gulf of Mexico Gag. If you wish to know more...

NOAA recently announced a reopening of for-hire Red Snapper fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. This applies to charter & head boat fishing. The dates are November 18, 2024 until January 1, 2025. Based on updated landings data, NOAA Fisheries determined that the red snapper recreational federal for-hire annual catch target was not reached during the open season.
