The Speaker for the Nov. 3rd meeting at Everglades Rec Center will be:
Our November speaker will be Gary Jennings.
Gary is the Director of Keep Florida Fishing for the American Sportfishing Association (ASA). He works to ensure that Florida’s resident and visiting anglers have clean water, abundant fisheries, and access to both. He will speak to our Club about the "Sharked Act". This is an initiative to research and address shark depredation, which occurs when a shark attacks a fish on an angler's line upon retrieval. This has become an all-too-common problem. Gary will share the latest developments and answer our questions. You don't want to miss this meeting.
Meeting times for the above date - doors open at 6 PM and the meeting starts at 6:30 PM.

Charlie Pryde has given us another excellent video of a fishing trip - his 44 hour adventure on the Gulfstar "Endurance" out of Tarpon Springs to the Middle Grounds and the Elbow. Jun 30 - July 2. Go to the YouTube channel "Pryde of the Villages", like his page and subscribe. You will find many more great videos besides fishing like a monthly report on Village activities, local beach and island trips, out of country cruises and even MORE. https://www.youtube.com/results...

2025 Gag grouper season in the Gulf opening Sep. 1 has been announced. The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council (along with NOAA) has announced the following:
Beginning in 2025, the recreational fishing season will begin on September 1 and will close when NOAA Fisheries projects that the recreational ACT has been harvested. This change is projected to increase the length of the fishing season compared to a June 1 opening date, as fishing pressure is expected to be lower with a September 1 start date for the season.
There are a bunch of "gobbilty-gook" explanations of how they arrived at: Changes to Catch Levels, Sector Allocations, Recreational Accountability Measures, Recreational Fishing Season, and the Rebuilding Plan for Gulf of Mexico Gag. If you wish to know more...
