Flat Fishing Charters
The Club schedules flats fishing trips each month on the Gulf Coast near Cedar Key, Crystal River, Yankee Town or other available locations on pontoon boats or shallow craft boats, piloted by an experienced guide. The trips that are scheduled by the Club are 4-hour trips but you may contact the captains for a full day’s trip.
In these waters lie plenty of trout, both silver and speckled; Spanish mackerel; redfish; sheepshead, and whiting. You may also encounter cobia, shark, grouper, kings and many other species.
Fishing tackle and bait are provided. You can bring a small cooler with your food, water and drink. Fishing is usually in fairly shallow water using light tackle. Lots of casting is involved so make sure you have the physical fitness to cast a lure.
These trips meet and depart from the parking lot in front of the Mexican Restaurant Habaneros located in Southern Trace Plaza shopping center, just north of route 466 and next to CR 101. Departure times are coordinated between the captains and trips coordinators and are based on the best fishing times and most often on the tides. There is no set time. Carpooling is used and it is Club practice to give the driver $10.00 per person to cover fuel, wear, and tear.
These trips must be paid for in advance either at the monthly meetings or at one of drop off points listed on this link. ANGLERS ARE ALSO REMINDED THAT IF YOU DROP OUT, AND DON'T FIND A REPLACEMENT, YOU MAY FORFEIT YOUR MONEY.
